countdown to new hampshire. some in the gop fighting for tear political lives as the campaign gets nastier. the big question today, who will take the granite state and how many will survive? >>> in the battle of democrats, key questions arise for both candidates. who has the momentum heading into tuesday's big vote? here's what they're all saying. >> hillary clinton does not want to face me in an election, but i can't wait to face her or bernie, for that matter. >> marco rubio has been a politician since he was 26-years-old. his whole life has been around his own ambitions

he put a lot into the campaign here in new hampshire. and it just didn't work out the way that he hoped. so in his speech tonight, he said that he's actually going to go home to new jersey instead of carrying on to south carolina as he insisted that he would. so he's going home he says to watch for the final results from last night and to make the decision whether or not he will stay in this race, but he says he has no regrets about the way >> and the second place republican, john kasich, he just tweeted that he has an event in mt. pleasant, south carolina, tomorrow morning. but what are we hearing about his campaign going forward? >> reporter: he has a busy day in south carolina today. but some are racing concerns about whether he'll be able to be have a repeat of what he saw here of that kind of success. he did really well here because he spent more time in new hampshire than the other gop candidates and held more than 100 town halls here. but his opponents are now trying to capitalize on this perceived idea that he's going to be weak

jenna: just one of the stories you heard in new hampshire, geraldo. why new hampshire? why is new hampshire the place where we're seeing this epidemic really explode? >> a great question, jenna. part of it is what senator cruz was alluding, the border in terms of stopping drug, the drug traffic coming in. rebel chap poe and his tunnel and the escape? he's a billionaire, according to "forbes" magazine. how did he become a billionaire? because he was the biggest drug trafficker in the world. his sin sinaloa drug cartel sena market, a market availability, a virgin market that had never really been supplied this particular substance before. they moved an operation nearby to northern massachusetts. they saw this market, they exploited it not only with heroin, but this synthetic feint knoll, and together they have caused havoc. there is a person overdosing fatally every single day in new hampshire, more than 800 over the last two years, 23 since the first of this year, two this week. i mean, it is the biggest issue on the minds of new hampshire voters. jenna: so many question
