john berman here. it is monday, february 1st. 2016. you know what that means! it is caucus day at last. it is finally here. after all of the months of campaigning and town hall speeches and debates, hours from now, the first actual voters cast the first actual votes in the 2016 presidential race. iowa caucuses officially here. candidates are campaigning everywhere across the state. engaged in the vast turnout effort. they want to get their voters to the right caucuses at the right time with the right knowledge about how to cast the votes. everyone says it all comes down to turn out which is about the most overworn cliche in politics. on the republican side, the main battle is between donald trump and ted cruz. cnn's jim acosta is following the campaign. >> reporter: john, donald trump was here in sioux city, iowa with jerry falwell jr., where they accused ted cruz of dishonest attacks. he predicted a win here in iowa and that could make his candidacy unstoppable. >> we have to win in iowa. a lot of people say donald do well in iowa. i can't do that. i really wa

i'm christine romans. >> i'm john berman. 30 minutes past the hour right now. wow. >> what a night. >> big victories in new hampshire for the outsider candidates, donald trump and bernie sanders. 92% of the votes tallied so far in the first in the nation primary. look at it right there, donald trump 35%, john kasich 16%. that's a 19-point margin of victory that at least equals john mccain's margin of victory in 2000. donald trump has done as well as anyone has in a long time, maybe better than that. the rest of the republican field bunched down past 12%. marco rubio not even on a board, he is in fifth place. >> on the democratic side bernie sanders he crushed hillary clinton beating her by more than 20 points, it was a 22 point margin, that is tough to take for hillary clinton on the heels of a close race in iowa last week. you will remember hillary clinton won iowa. joining us to sort through the results eric bradner live in new hampshire. >> hey, you know, it was the night of the anti-establishment candidates here in new hampshire. after coming up a little bi
