nick gregory is here with a first look at what could be a beautiful weekend. nick: it will be a nice warmup is coming. a little roller coaster ride in temperatures this weekend. in the process, we have a couple of snow showers going on upnorth as you head towards the hudson valley and towards parts of central new york state. we may see a few of these scattered rain or snow showers this evening. not a big deal. again, possibly later tonight. it's pretty chilly, in the middle 30s. islip, 33. 39 poughkeepsie. 36 as you get to belmar. we're talking a southerly wind moving into play overnight into tomorrow. there goes the rain or snow showers. they'll go away by tomorrow. we'll get back to a good amount of sunshine through most of the day and temperatures will be responding with a southwest wind that will be breezy at 10 to 20 we'll look for temperatures in the middle 50s tomorrow. sunday looks good. sun and clouds. we'll watch a quick hitting disturbance moving up from the south and west that might bring rain to the area sunday night. 35 tonight with rain or snow

nick gregory here is the latest look at the forecast. yesterday we were talking about a w of 0. is that the deal? nick: i've raised it to 2 for the city. a warming trend. that will tie the record for that -- that's for sunday morning we're talking about for the real punch of the arctic air that will come in. it will be quite cold tomorrow and getting even colder saturday, sunday, and we'll have a quick recovery as we get into next week. right now, no picnic out there. 23 in the city. 19 sussex. 12 monticello. 25 at the jersey shore. mid 20s across long island and a couple of snow showers have been around. might run into a couple of those early tonight. otherwise, we'll get mainly a few patchy clouds overnight, but the wind has been strong and gusty. look at the west wind in play. 15, 25 miles an hour. we have seen gusts higher than that. the gusts have been approaching 35 to 40 miles an hour in parts of the area. there's a gust of 37 at islip and bridgeport. 35 montauk. gusting to 32 at poughkeepsie. here are the windchill numbers. feeling like 5 now up there in the hudson valle

nick gregory is riding this roller coaster for us. what's next? nick: buckle up and hold on to the ride. we're going to be seeing temperatures rise into tonight into tomorrow. while we started out as snow today, we'll be ending up with sleet and freezing rain. it's seeing that changeover take place in parts of the area. then it's rain. some of the rain could be heavy at times tomorrow. yesterday morning our new record low for february 14th was set at minus 1. tomorrow afternoon we'll be in the mid and upper 50s. crazy, crazy weather. here's fox 5 sky guardian. this darker blue now, that's the area of sleet that is moving in across brooklyn through lower nassau county and extending towards central new jersey. 2 or 3 inches of snow may accumulate before the changeover to ice. maybe freezing rain interior northern new jersey into the hudson valley and parts of southern connecticut. here's the sleet in pink here moving over to freezing rain. where it's above freezing, like parts of the jersey shore and on to long island, we're seeing temperatures at 3
