first alert weather day for the philadelphia area, new jersey and the new jersey shore because we expect snow to be developing and really impacting these areas the most. so, rain is moving in right now. we'll see that change to snow overnight. and for the morning commute we have wet snow in the forecast, that's really going to lower visibility so just be very careful tomorrow morning. of course we'll be updating you throughout the morning tomorrow. we have a winter weather advisory across almost the entire area. the snow is not going to make it into the lehigh valleyy but the counties in purple snow developing overnight. the viadvisory until noon tomorrow. before that we're going to see issues on the roadways. right now we have the rain around, we don't have the snow yet. it's too warm for that. there you see the rain mostly in new jersey and delaware, we're going to keep watching this move in for tonight. areas north and west you do see that they are on the drier side. this is really our focus. new jersey, delaware, and up in the philadelphia area. not so much the poconos or lehigh vall

new jersey has been extended to 1:00 a.m. aside from that, which we will be tracking through the overnight hours, still looking at very heavy rain falling across the area. we have, however, that severe thunderstorm warning i told you about a little bit ago. mercer to tenton. until 11:45 tonight. the precip rates in the heavy rain close to 4 1/2 inches an hour and starting the really move out of mercer county, at least the brunt of it. either way, could be seeing damaging winds near 60 miles per hour, lightning, heavy rain again and the potential for hail. this storm is moving to the northeast around 100 miles per hour. that is extremely fast for an isolated storm. we typically don't see it that fast and dealing with a very unstable weather pattern today. flash flood warning continues for areas in delaware, extending up through philadelphia along the major interstates to the trenton areas. we are looking at flooding in these areas, roadway flooding, street and creek flooding occurring in many locations already because of the h

northern new jersey, hudson valley, all of new jersey really. in suffolk county, it is a winter storm warning. that's where we think the heaviest snow will fall and accumulate. temperatures so far in our favor, they keep dropping. places like chelsea 35. dyker heights, 38. west and northwest, sussex 37. newburgh 37. this will keep the snow that's falling, basically melting on once the snow ramps up, it will accumulate. that's what we expect to happen during the latter half of the morning commute and up until noon. temperatures keep on dropping, low to mid-30s. snow tapers by noon. a few inches, especially on grassy areas and colder surfaces. we'll take a closer look in a bit. first look at the commute. no big issues. i know it's wet but it's early. >> it's wet and early. we have accidents on the roads. we'll start with a disabled vehicle. we're not. we'll start with the accidents on the southern state parkway. two accidents. one by eagle avenue. they block two lanes. slippery ride already. >> this blocks the right lane on the kew gardens interch

new jersey bound, no major problems. let's head over to our maps and we'll talk about mass transit, long island railroad, metro north, new jersey transit, they are all running on or close to schedule. subway service is also running on or close, so you're doing just fine with your subways at this point. going to the new jersey turnpike and the garden state parkway, speeds are reduced in both directions. the new jersey turnpike speeds are down the entire lane. so from the george washington bridge all the way down to the delaware memorial bridge, garden state parkway speed reduction between 124 and up into the new york state line. lower level george washington bridge we had construction outbound. that has been cleared away. we do have a minor delay coming inbound at all three hudson river crossings, no major problems to report there. and then going to the brooklyn at least two lanes are closed down, that's construction. that should be cleared away very shortly. and then we do have alternate side of the street parking rules
