in that photo he's talking to robert muller. obviously in the middle of a massive federal investigation to get to the bottom of this. you see in the photo, dennis mcdonough, his homeland security advisor, they are clearly trying to get on top of this investigation, but also coordinating with local and state officials to make sure this administration is doing all it can to help people on the ground sort all of this out. we should note they've been cautious so far on whether or not it is terrorism. the vice president was doing a previously scheduled conference call earlier about gun control and on that just said offhand that it was a bombing, as if it were not an accident, but did not use the specific word terror, though we're just getting a two-minute warning that the president will be out. so we'll hear as to whether he will call this terrorism. we know the diane feinstein has moments ago called this an act of terror, though she said it's unclear whether it's a foreign source of terrorism or whether this was home grown terrorism

. >> brian: i understand the president gets briefed regularly by robert muller. how did that not come up, by the way, we're investigating the c.i.a. director? >> now we've got the intelligence apparatus investigating itself. there is one of two things happening. either there is a complete break down in respect and communication with the white house and nobody is talking to anybody else, or, in fact, this is also a lie, leading up to the election, there are a lots of things hidden. we know that the administration lied about benghazi effectively. we know they didn't tell us about iran shooting at a drone a week out before the election. we know that their economic numbers that they held before the election. so the american people have got a lot of soul searching about what it is we're being told and when we're being told. >> brian: and we're out of time. i'm only kidding. [ laughter ] pen, in particular, what is going on here? is it that big of a teal? how does general petraeus' behavior reflect poorly on the president? >> i'm afraid i blame everything on technology

we know robert muller knew about it, f.b.i. director, almost immediately. we know that he was briefing the president on a regular basis. what are the chances that the president actually didn't know until election day that this all was going down and this investigation was taking place? >> it's difficult to say. certainly the house and senate intelligence committees were not notified. we know that from senator diane feinstein. panetta said they had to look why the intelligence committees were not informed. there's a difference of opinion here in washington about whether the f.b.i. needed to -- and whether the justice department and robert muller needed to tell the president. so i think they wanted to see where the investigation ended up. >> steve: it's ended up on the front page of the paper. thank you very much. let's dial in laura ingraham. she joinses from washington, d.c., scandal central. are you buying the whole business, laura, the president didn't know about it until two days after the election? >> before i answer that question, can we just talk abou

director robert muller says the new york police department and its commissioner ray kelly are doing a great job. >> that's a big story. hundreds of thousands of financially strapped homeowners getting some much needed help thanks to a side deal struck between bank of america and the federal government over its foreclosure practices so under the terms, bank of america will not have to pay $850 million in penalties. this will allow the bank to help households reduce their mortgage balances, some even cutting them to their home's current market value. eric? >> call him fast feud. a police officer getting into a supersized brawl with a would-be thief inside a mcdonald's. >> kind of pushed off and threw me off of him and the fight was on! >> that was deputy kevin meyer, the florida police officer called to the scene after the thug tried robbing another customer of his backpack. as you can see, the suspect didn't go down without a fight. deputy meyer says he couldn't even call for backup because his radio was knocked off. lucky for him, three homeless men stepped in and subdued the suspect.

. >> the way i understood this whole controversy was that kit bond was told by robert muller to not release any of this sensitive information of what was going on, what the underwear bomber was talking about because he said, bond says, it was stressed to him that the f.b.i. director, bob muller, here it is right here, f.b.i. director bob muller personally stressed to me that keeping the fact of his cooperation quiet, the underwear bomber, was vital to preventing future attacks against the united states. well, then apparently what happened is during that hearing, they exposed it all and they said in fact he was cooperating and that made kit bond angry. i thought we weren'ted supposed to tell anyone. that got a lot of people talking about whether this is being politicized. didd d did the administrations do this on purpose? >> did the administration accuse kit bond of blabbing, gibbs wants an apology and he said so yesterday. >> the white house in conjunction with agencies involved in this interrogation gave out classified information? yes. i think an apology on that is owed because it's not t

chief robert muller. >> thank you so much. >> and now to the political crisis in honduras. the ousted president trying to get back to his homeland ever so briefly. the former leader stood on the edge of his country and called on his fellow hondurans to resist the coup installed government and quickly went back to nicaragua, saying he wanted to avoid bloodshed and give negotiations another try. now more in honduras. steve, talk to us about the situation on the streets there. is it dangerous, chaotic? are there protests? >> certainly did seem chaotic yesterday along that border area when you had a former president or ousted president trying to get back into his own countries with news cameras and soldiers 25 yards away. that certainly could have gotten dangerous in a hurry. it did not. but the scene on the streets here in the capital is quite different than that. stores are open, traffic is owing. it would be hard pressed to understand by going around the capital to know this is a country whose president was ousted by the military less than one month ago. >> we were watching
