laura viera of east boston, also a boston school student, just a few days shy of her 16th birthday was pronounced dead after being transported to milton hospital last night. her family members were at the hospital and are now mourning her death. police say laura was on foot crossing north main street at oak street in randolph around 8:00 last night. when she was hit by a 2000 chrysler sedan. police say she was in the crosswalk at the time. but that the driver did have police say the driver, a 21-year-old randolph man stayed at the scene and was cooperative. investigators say there was no evidence of alcohol or drugs. >> what we believe so far far is that the driver of the vehicle did stop and make himself known to police. he gave a statement. we believe the young girl was in the crosswalk at the time. and also the driver had a green light. he was going forward. it was snowing very heavily at the time of the accident last night. >> reporter: no charges filed at this time. no word on whether the victim was looking at her cell phone or had her headphones on. police say that the matter is

the wind is out of the north, about 9mph in boston. 13 in worcester. not overpowering, but we have a north wind throughout the day. we have light rain trying to skirt the cape and the islands down through southeastern mass exiting east. in its wake, sunshine. this is the storm, one or two pieces of energy will start to work up the east coast that. will bring us a butt of precipitation as we get into the mid-week period. first butt of precipitation starts to work on in here late tomorrow. itself we'll notice the clouds increase with a better chance of light mixed precipitation breaking out tomorrow night. not a lot of cold air with this storm system, so we'll get a little light mixed precipitation tomorrow night and then the theme as we go into wednesday and thursday is to bring in mainly rain, although there still could be some icy spots north and west wednesday morning, but a better chance of a soaking rain rolling in here on thursday as temperatures surge. so near seasonable levels today. 42 for the high temperature. 38 tomorrow. more clouds around c

feel 5-10 degrees warmer than the here sa look at those highs for tomorrow. 39 for worcester. 40 for boston. we are right where we should be this time of year. here is your brief shot at some precipitation. mainly rain overnight tonight. and then we stay dry monday, tuesday. but this midweek storm system, boy, it's been a tricky one to forecast. here is the thinking at this point. still, that track trending westward for us. that means mild temperatures. mostly rain for us. but it does have some overrunning precipitation which means that we have some moisture that is running into cold air. which does mean that the on-set of this snow and ice overnight tuesday into wednesday mainly inland could be the case. i don't think a lot in the way of anything piling up or causing problems. but still something we have to watch. changing over to all rain by midmorning or midday wednesday and then by the time we make it into thursday, we are not only expecting a whole lot of rain, but a whole lot of wind as well. a closer look at that timeline. tuesday at 10:00 p.m., we are seeing some snow that is moving
