good morning, everyone. 19 in boston. 16 in worcester. 21 in norwood right now. we've lost most of the snow that's fallen overnight, but still tracking a few patches of very light snow and flurries out there. just enough to dust the car again here up into northern worcester county. approaching the merrimack valley, at there's western edges of it here, but i don't expect a whole lot out of this this morning. winter gear needed for the kiddos this morning. certainly need snow boots at the bus stop this morning. we'll warm up to 30 this afternoon.

boston just under 7 inches. that's what will go in the almanac for boston logan. the cape and the islands. the issue this morning is the snow is rock solid. probably won't be until 11:00 or noon before temperatures get above freezing. just some passing clouds. we'll still call it mostly sunny highs this afternoon.

temperatures under 7 inches in boston, plymouth getting right around 8 inches, a little bit less as we get toward the outer cape and the islands where we had a little bit of rain or fair amount of rain later on before we switched over to snow. anyway, the slushy wet snow we had yesterday is now a solid block of ice when we got temperatures in the mid-20s in boston, that is one of the warmer numbers. 13 in norwood. and 17 in nashua, look out for black ice, look out for thick ice on the sidewalks this morning. otherwise, radar is quiet. satellite quiet as well. sun coming up in 20 minutes and when that sun comes up, we will get a good bit of it. mid-to upper 40s, a little bit of melting this afternoon but things refreeze depend tonight. the weekend looks quiet. we are tracking the next storm system for the early part of the workweek. more on that in a few minutes. >>> here are the top stories, a large tree branch fell on her friday.

i think in downtown boston, i'd look at 6 inches of snow and bracket is on either side of well as southern new hampshire, 4 to 5 inches of snow. traveling right now is fair, fair to strong. and as you work through the morning hours, the travel then they will improve late this afternoon as well as this evening. chris? >> chris: once we kick out this storm, we're doing fine over the weekend. travel weather into the midwest fairly quiet as we go through the afternoon. it's really the eastern seaboard here, especially in new england, that will deal with the heavy, wet snow throughout the day. tapering off around 2:00 out through worcester, about 3:00 or so in the city of boston. 5:00 down across the cape and those temperatures holding lower to middle 30s this afternoon. partly cloudy skies tonight. the pilings of slush freezing up tonight. so if you have a lot of that slushy snow in the driveway and

disabled plow on the expressway northbound blocking the center lane 24 minutes from braintree into boston. south of town, it's a slow drive, but no major incidents to tell you about. a lot of these exclamation marks you're seeing are really heavy traffic because of the snow. the pike into town from framingham, a slow drive. you can see thread indicating the slowing there. north of town from 495 to 128 on 93 southbound, not too bad. in medford we still have this accident.

. >> chris: dry start, christa, but we expect rain the move in this afternoon. 36 in boston. 32 in worcester. these numbers being replaced by 50s this afternoon. here is that wall of rain stretching from upstate new york down into pennsylvania. the edge of it getting close to the mass/new york border. we'll get a couple scattered showers in here by mid-morning, especially northern worcester county up into southern new hampshire, but watch the trend throughout the day. and even early this afternoon, the bulk of the rain by noontime, 1:00, still to the north and west of boston. any time after 2:00, i think it's fair game the get the steady rain even close to the coastline, and i do expect a wet ride home from work today. and then tonight, even some scattered downpours in here this evening, that will continue
