we're here in south carolina. we'll going to go through south carolina ultimately to the midwest. this is a long, long race and you know, everybody always underestimates me but it seems to always kind of work out. we're going to put one foot in front of the other. >> jeb bush not getting out of the race at all and you're about to face an on slot from him in south carolina. his aids circulating a memo that says you have little or no chance in south carolina. quote, kasich has supported gutting the military and has no viable path in the palmetto state. your response? >> well, look. you got the bush campaign. they have spent about $120 four delegates. they have gotten blown out in iowa and did poorly in new hampshire. spending all their money going negative. when you pound me i'm going to have to defend myself but i think it's sad. look, i'm not going to get diverted by it. i've been for a strong military, economic growth. i'm a reformer and been able to bring people together to solve the toughest problems america has. >> can you imagine bringing those two wings of the party together

now in south carolina? >> reporter: robin, there have be no reliable polls since a week before the iowa caucuses. but in every poll in south carolina going back to october, donald trump has had a commanding lead and there's little evidence anything has changed that. the other candidates have nine days to make up ground. >> thank you. >> all the polls in new hampshire as well. let's get to matthew dowd. matthew, very different terrain from iowa and manchester, new hampshire and that has vicious politics. >> it gets nasty and negative fast. it is different. it has aspects of iowa and new hampshire. first it's an open primary. that means democrat, independents and republicans can vote in it like new hampshire. but it also has the highest percentage of evangelicals similar to iowa but one of the differences in the evangelicals in south carolina is they're not driven to the polls by social issues but establishment conservative issues and so when is going to have twice as many liberal and moderate voters as iowa,
