gar w gary tuchman is live where a kasich town hall is about to begin. what are you hearing there? >> reporter: good morning to you. john kasich did not win the new hampshire primary but he did come in second place which translates to first-place finish among his establishments. he's come here to make his first campaign event at this pizza restaurant in charleston, south carolina. never too early for pizza. people here are waiting for kasich to arrive. south carolina, an incredibly important primary. a week from saturday, the gop primary and then the following tuesday the nevada caucuses, both important for kasich. he doesn't necessarily expect to do particularly well here in south carolina. but he hopes to propel himself to the midwest primaries. what you have on march 8th, tuesday, the michigan primary. and then march 15th. illinois, missouri and his home state of ohio. he thinks he could do very well there. his donations will be increasing and also donations against him are also expected to be increasing after his finish yesterday. now, we can tell you that what is happening rig

gary tuchman is there, spoke with some of his supporters. >> how are you? >> reporter: on an unseasonably warm evening in new hampshire, this crowd doesn't have any warmth toward those who say donald trump is now politically vulnerable after losing in iowa to ted cruz. >> well, because i think he's going to come here and rock new hampshire. >> reporter: trump may have come in second place in the caucuses but we asked many people lined up to see him in new hampshire this question. were you disappointed with the results in iowa? >> absolutely not. >> reporter: how come? >> second place is a great finish. >> can you see me right now? >> of course i can. >> reporter: those are unusual glasses. >> i'm here to support donald trump. >> reporter: no kidding. >> yes, all decked out. >> reporter: were you disappointed he didn't win in iowa? >> no i, i wasn't. i thought that was going to be tough for him. i put perspective on it it's only one last delegate. >> reporter: there were some trump supporters who said a second-place finish was a letdown but they were in the

here's gary tuchman. >> reporter: a college gymnasium with many young women, self-described progressive democrats. people hillary clinton wants and needs for her presidential bid. but these female millennials are not here for hillary clinton. entrance polls show democratic women under the age of 30 favored bernie sanders by an overwhelming margin. >> a lot of what i hear bernie sanders speaking about is for college kids, helping them out once they graduate. >> what we're talking about is free tuition at public colleges and universities. >> reporter: the free tuition proposal resonates for many young women. but those here have other reasons, too. >> just because somebody is a woman doesn't mean they are right for the job. i want to make sure they have the right qualifications and standards and morals. >> i just don't really trust in what she has to say. it's like i don't really believe in her. >> reporter: at this rally at daniel webster college and a later rally at a manchester theater, there are other reasons that young women want to see a female president are willing to wait for that.

gary tuchman is joining me now in el paso. gary, what do they think of the fiery debate? >> they were entertained and informed. you thought it was a good debate? [ applause ] >> they were watching for two and a half hours. this is el paso county, texas. most voters here are democrats. this a roomful of republicans at the republican party headquarters. we want to tell them about what they do. they literally do a straw poll. the winner in this room was ted cruz. [ applause ] >> now i'll pick this up. this shows you the straw poll results. ted cruz came in first with 30. all right. coming in second place, marco rubio with 12. donald trump with 10. ben carson with 4 and john kasich with 2. all right. you can see one of the two right there. i want to ask a quick question. how many of you, if you don't mind me asking, where you are in a border county. how many are hispanic dissent? were you insulted by donald trump that he wants to send anyone here back to mexico here illegally? anyone insulted by it? who is not insulted by it? most of you are not insulted by it. let me ask you
