sanjay gupta is with us and jeff zeleny as well. sanjay, this proof positive that the biden team understands that the most important job is for them to accelerate the vaccine rollout, not only distribution but getting shots into arms. jeff zients saying they will start a rollout program of 1 million doses next week at pharmacies around the country. 1 million doses a modest amount to get started but the idea they have gone into a new phase that they will start next week with doses going to community pharmacies around the country. how much of a difference might that make? >> i think the idea will make a big difference. to your point, the number itself is very hodmodest. there's a couple things that we learned or have been reminded of over the last couple of months now, last several weeks at least. pharmacies is where people often go. this is what people are familiar with, especially local neighborhood pharmacies. we saw evidence of just how well that has worked in west virginia, for example. we also know pharmacies can have incredible

jeff zeleny has more on that visit. >> president biden making a visit to the pfizer factory in portage, michigan, where the coronavirus vaccine is being produced. and clearly there have been issued with vaccination supply. so the president taking a firsthand look while he walked through the factory getting the pfizer acknowledgement to ramp up production. that is about two months ahead of schedule from the original plan. now, there is no question, winter weather in the united states has slowed the distribution of this vaccine considerably. the president said there could be other bumps in the road, as well. different variants of the strain, of course, are making this even more challenging. but he did say by the end of july, he does expect some 300 million americans should be receiving vaccines. but also making the case that vaccines are safe. there is a worry inside the administration that people who are eligible for the vaccine are afraid to get it because of the safety concerns. he made clear the vaccine is safe. also, he pushed republicans to support his $1.9 trillion covid relief sp

i think what president biden was trying to do tonight, especially with that answer to jeff zeleny just there was de-escalate, really. remember, in that abc interview he answered pretty quickly when he was asked if he thought putin was a killer. the white house said they stand by that. tonight he said he did stand by it but he seemed to sidestep ray li -- a little bit when he said putin seems to stand by it. he said he doesn't want to create conflict because it seems like he's going to go there and push and push and push when it comes to russia. he often said there are areas we think we can cooperate. they're trying to set the tone in that way. but, erin, they're also not having expectations for this summit. president biden is not trying to visualize what he can walk out of that room and have in his hands, they're saying they don't expect any concrete achievements, but this does come with skepticism as to why this me meeting is happening now. he said the ones he spoke to at the g7 summit and at nato today, they did not have one ounce of concern about his sit-down with putin. instead the
