he's being held at the virginia peninsula regional jail. a judge dismisses a lawsuit aiming to overturn protections for transgender students in fairfax county. andrea lafferty... the head of the traditional values coalition... and an unnamed student sued the county school board in december . the move came after the board voted to bar discrimination based on gender identity. those opposing the policy say it would easily allow boys and girls to use each other's bathrooms. lafferty told the washington decision. roanoke city schools are looking for teachers for the next generation. the school system hled its annual job fair this afternoon. it took place at william fleming high school. the superintendent says she's looking for teachers middle and high school as well as special education. the goal is to create a diverse climate for learning. we're just seeing some really bright and energetic young men and women who are committed to urban education and for the most part, everyone has a great vision for the future of the children, today's job fair.

legislation is moving through the virginia statehouse that could do just that. wsls 10's ananda rochita is live in the studio. ananda -- i understand there are some questions about confidentiality when it comes to this bill ... that's exactly what twila brown .... the director of special education for rockbridge county public schools brought up. according to the bill ... recordings are confidential and only released to people involved in investigating a documented incident. cameras would be installed if a parent or school board employee requested them. in addition ... all school personnel and parents would receive a written notice prior to cameras installed and if a parent is against them. however that's not enough for brown. she says the school system has worked hard to include special education students with general education peers. she said if by law cameras had to be in special education classrooms ... she would like them to be in all classrooms. twila brown/special education director: "from my view point it's all or nothing. we put them in all of the classr

we also learned today that there are new charges filed against one of the virginia tech students police say was involved in nicole lovell's death. 19-year-old natalie keepers is now facing a felony that could land her in prison for the rest of her life. wsls 10's bethany teague got a copy of keepers' new arrest warrant. she joins us live in blacksburg as part of our team coverage. bethany.. what did you find out? virginia tech student natalie keepers is now charged with accessory before the fact to first degree murder. david eisenhaur is still charged with first degree murder in what we now know was the stabbing death of nicole lovell. keepers was originally charged with accessory after the fact and concealing or transporting a dead body. accessory after the fact carries a carries ten years. this new charge.. accessory before the fact.. carries a possible sentence of 20 years to life in prison. commonwealth attorney mary pettitt announced the new charges during a news conference today.. and said she would not be releasing more details until court proceedings began. mary pettitt, commonw
