states of emergency are in effect in virginia, and north carolina right now. among the places that took devastating blows of a violent and deadly storm that rampaged from the south up the eastern seaboard. today we're seeing the full extent of the damage from some 50 reported tornadoes over the last two days. nine people were and millions were impacted from downed trees and power outages, to floods and canceled flights. tonight the region is still trying to recover. nbc's miguel almaguer reports. >> reporter: tonight this is what the damage looked like in seven states. homes have been shredded, lives are in shambles, after more than 50 reported tornadoes. >> i went to see where the house was, it wasn't there. >> reporter: in waverly, virginia, there's as much heart break as destruction. in the f-1 tornado with winds up to 110 miles an hour, carving a path nine miles yard and 300 yards wide. this foundation, all bull's-eye. the bodies of two adults and a toddler discovered 300 yards away from the living room where they were storm. >> it could be your loved one.

the case of a flight attendant accused of making false bomb threats on flights he worked in virginia may not make it to trial. court documents show the case may be moved to a different state. it's a move prosecutors say indicates a plea agreement. justin cox- server is accused of making fake bomb threats on a july flight from charlottesville to chicago. he's accused of making similar claims on a flight from his north dakota trial ... originally scheduled for this week ... has been delayed until april. three men from northern virginia are charged with assault after police say they attacked an uber driver. arlington police say ... the men attacked ... after the driver asked them to stop drinking beer in the car. police say ... one of the attackers hit the driver in the head with a beer bottle. no super i tried to stop him with my hand, then from the other hand, he threw the bottle and ah at me on my head. and ah, he started punching me and i tried to save myself by going down. at that point, my head was a little bit down after that. one of the car windows was also smashed. police say .

he's being held at the virginia peninsula regional jail. a judge dismisses a lawsuit aiming to overturn protections for transgender students in fairfax county. andrea lafferty... the head of the traditional values coalition... and an unnamed student sued the county school board in december . the move came after the board voted to bar discrimination based on gender identity. those opposing the policy say it would easily allow boys and girls to use each other's bathrooms. lafferty told the washington decision. roanoke city schools are looking for teachers for the next generation. the school system hled its annual job fair this afternoon. it took place at william fleming high school. the superintendent says she's looking for teachers middle and high school as well as special education. the goal is to create a diverse climate for learning. we're just seeing some really bright and energetic young men and women who are committed to urban education and for the most part, everyone has a great vision for the future of the children, today's job fair.
