more than a 100 patrol cars are lined along the road outside a northern virginia hospital. a somber escort for the body of a slain police officer on her first shift since rejoining the department. officer ashle guindon was responding to a domestic-related shooting saturday. she had just been sworn in friday. two other officers were also shot and taken to the hospital. and they found a woman killed in connection to the shooting. authorities say the suspect is a military serviceman who is now in custody, and expected in court monday. back here in iowa. hundreds gathered to show their support for fallen officers at the annual cops black and blue ball. last year, 124 officers died in the line of duty nationwide. the event raises money for families and co-workers of officers killed in the line of duty. so far in 2016, there have been 10 firearm officer related deaths. last year in the same time frame, just one. toni galetich-christofferson: we can't give their loved one back but we can stand by them and hold their hand and get them through the rough patches. alyx: proceeds from
