the recent snow storm knocked out power all over southwest virginia. one of the areas impacted is danville. power crews have been working all day to restore power to everyone in the just about finished. wsls 10's colter anstaett has an as you can see behind me, crews are still on kennon drive, as they have been all day, working to repair multiple power poles and multiple power lines. "we're pretty lucky. i'd say we're lucky." lucky because the storm could've been much worse. around 750 people in danville lost power as a result of yesterday's storm, but now only about 150 are still without power. jerone mabe/engineerin g technician - "if it had kept raining and the temperature had staid around freezing, 31 to 32 degrees, we would've had a lot more people out." the city says the biggest concentration of outages came this morning when around 500 people lost power due to a problem at the piney forest substation. utilities worker are hoping to have everyone's power restored before the end of today. last time the city experienced a large number of power outa

a virginia community is mourning... after a police officer was shot and killed saturday. 28 year old ashley guin-don along with two other officers were shot while responding to a domestic dispute in prince william county. police say 32 year old ronald hamilton opened fire on the officers after allegedly killing his wife. guindon was killed just one day after being sworn in to the police department. her co-workers say she was passionate about her job. chief steve hudson / prince william co. police dept. - "she felt like she still wanted to do this job. she couldn't get it out of her blood. it was something she thought she could the other two officers are expected to recover-- one is in critical condition. hamilton was a member of the army who worked in the pentagon. he's charged with capital and first degree murder as well as malicious wounding. hamilton will be arraigned monday. cleanup efforts continue in appomattox county after an e-f-3 tornado ripped through the area. while many people are still trying to process the

legislation is moving through the virginia statehouse that could do just that. wsls 10's ananda rochita is live in the studio. ananda -- i understand there are some questions about confidentiality when it comes to this bill ... that's exactly what twila brown .... the director of special education for rockbridge county public schools brought up. according to the bill ... recordings are confidential and only released to people involved in investigating a documented incident. cameras would be installed if a parent or school board employee requested them. in addition ... all school personnel and parents would receive a written notice prior to cameras installed and if a parent is against them. however that's not enough for brown. she says the school system has worked hard to include special education students with general education peers. she said if by law cameras had to be in special education classrooms ... she would like them to be in all classrooms. twila brown/special education director: "from my view point it's all or nothing. we put them in all of the classr
